This sweet little pincushion came to me from England. These are traditionally christening pillows and were made as a gift to new mothers. This one, I would guess, was made by a mother to commemorate the birth or christening of all of her children. The original pincushion was made of silk fabric and measures 3 1/4 inches square. The pleated ribbon used to trim the edges of the pincushion is also silk.
For my reproduction I used hand-dyed linen from Picture This Plus and hand-dyed rayon ribbon from Lady Dot Creates. For the stitched version, I used Needle Point Silk in #976. A chart for the stitched version is enclosed.
