This design is a reproduction of an antique needlepoint purse I found in a Pennsylvania antique shop. While the placement of each motif is not exact to the original, all the motifs are exact. I did my best to arrange the motifs to arrange a pleasing sampler design. The date and initials are from my imagination. I do not know the age of the purse or the maker.
Our sampler was worked on 40-count Shadow linen from Picture This Plus using one strand of Needlepoint Silk. Cross stitch is used throughout. Our frame was custom made from our local craft store.
Stitch Count: 123 wide by 186 high.
Needlepoint Silks used: 123, 181, 186, 203, 29, 245, 296, 304, 313, 316, 335, 341, 342, 346, 622, 675, 693, 695, 764, 765, 767, 772, 863, 866, 904, 931, 961, 963, 964, 987. A conversion to DMC is provided.
